Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
About the Our Father
The Our Father, also called the Lord’s Prayer, is the prayer Jesus taught his disciples as the model for all Christian prayer (Matthew 6:9–13; Luke 11:2–4). It proclaims God’s holiness, asks for daily provision, forgiveness and protection, and invites the coming of God’s kingdom and will on earth. Reciting it unites us with believers across time and traditions, reminding us of our dependence on God’s grace and mercy.
